Welcome to Catholics for Israel!

Yeshua at the Kotell

"The Church... cannot forget that she received the revelation of the Old Testament through the people with whom God in His inexpressible mercy concluded the Ancient Covenant. Nor can she forget that she draws sustenance from the root of that well-cultivated olive tree [Israel] onto which have been grafted the wild shoots, the Gentiles. Indeed, the Church believes that by His cross Christ, Our Peace, reconciled Jews and Gentiles, making both one in Himself.

The Church keeps ever in mind the words of the Apostle about his kinsmen: "theirs is the sonship and the glory and the covenants and the law and the worship and the promises; theirs are the fathers and from them is the Messiah according to the flesh" (Rom. 9:4-5), the Son of the Virgin Mary. She also recalls that the Apostles, the Church's main-stay and pillars, as well as most of the early disciples who proclaimed Christ's Gospel to the world, sprang from the Jewish people... God holds the Jews most dear for the sake of their Fathers; He does not repent of the gifts He makes or of the calls He issues." (NA 4)

We are an apostolate of Catholics for Israel and Catholics in Israel committed to fostering a greater love for the Jewish people, for Jesus the Messiah, and for His Body, the Catholic Church.

Quote of the Week
It is right and fitting that, during my stay in Israel, I will have the opportunity to honor the memory of the six million Jewish victims of the Shoah, and to pray that humanity will never again witness a crime of such magnitude. Sadly, anti-Semitism continues to rear its ugly head in many parts of the world. This is totally unacceptable. Every effort must be made to combat anti-Semitism wherever it is found, and to promote respect and esteem for the members of every people, tribe, language and nation across the globe. (From Pope Benedict's arrival speech in Israel, Tel Aviv airport, May 11, 2009)

Analysis: Pope Benedict's Visit in Israel
Wednesday, 27 May 2009
Benedict's visit to the Holy Land was and probably will remain the most complicated and sensitive trip of his pontificate. Even before he arrived there was a sense in the air that anything that can be misinterpreted will be. Now that the dust has settled, it is fair to say that the trip generated very mixed feelings. Holy Land or Israel?
Thursday, 14 May 2009
Sometimes I hear Catholics talking about making a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and I must confess that something about this lightly irritates me. “Why would this irritate you” you might ask, “what’s wrong with Catholics visiting the land of Jesus and cradle of their faith?” Nothing is wrong with Catholics visiting the land of Jesus of course. It is with the terminology that I have a bone to pick... Read more...

Gott ist kein Bigamist (German)
Thursday, 09 Apr 2009
On March 9, 2009, the Central Committee of German Catholics released a heretical document entitled Nein zur Judenmission - Ja zum Dialog zwischen Juden und Christen ( No to Jewish mission - Yes to dialogue between Jews and Christians ). This document claims: We emphasize, with the Church of the Second Vatican Council, that God's covenant with the Jewish people represents a way of salvation to God - also without recognition of Jesus Christ and without the sacrament of Baptism . German philosoper Robert Spaemann responds to the document's claims (in German). Read more...
